Business Opportunity For Thought

I’m an American living in Yemen and my husband is an Egyptian national working for a pharmaceutical company here. His work covers Marketing, Advertising, Budgeting, and Sales. He works with several companies and agencies. He is a business whiz but despite this fact business opportunity here has been dry and his company is unfairly cheap with him.

I also have my own interests in this matter. I have been away from the US for about 2 years or more. I really miss American food, mostly fast food. I have looked about franchises for McDonald’s, Hardee’s, Burger King, and Taco Bell. They already have a KFC and Pizza Hut here but I know that more variety will help both markets. The Yemeni people love anything spicy and with lots of flavor. All of these franchises though pretty much require my husband to be a millionaire with backgrounds in food services. Are there any American businesses and franchises that is not so high on the qualifications and that will help my husband build up the business and the market here since we are not millionaires to begin with? It doesn’t necessarily have to be a restaurant franchise. Thank you for any advice.

You might get a Subway or other restaurant if you have $250,000 in the bank. I prefer the idea of you opening a Chinese restaurant with no franchise..

Find out what was used to design the webpage and see if you can obtain an "inside link" (usually just a password, special ip address or web-link), then to save yourself some time, ask them how to go about adding "key words" to you web page.

not likely – if someone had the money and it’s a public franchise, why would they need you? – they would just go directly to OBC and open their own franchise.

I live in a town of about 85 thousand people.The area has alot of retired people in the area and a lot of snow birds back and forth from Florida. Alot of summer homes. Its a rural type area but we have almost all the franchises here a mall alot of banks and autoparts.Our downtown is kind of gift shop packed area.Alot of restaurants. Summers are mild as well as the winters.

My suggestion would be either a landscaping business. I would think that while the snow birds are away they would have someone to maintain their lawns. It could also help you to build a re pore with the locals who may even invite you to a lucrative business offer. Besides the start up costs are very minimal

I lost my job as per 1 June. I worked in financial services (international environment) for 20 years.

I try to see this as an opportunity, I may be able to get a (modest) sum of money if I wave goodbye to my employer within 3 months, rather then use their services for re-employment and continued salary for 9 months.

It may just be enough to buy me into a franchise for instance. I know the economy is not too favorable for new businesses at the moment, but still I keep pondering about the possibilities. Anyone with ideas?
